Victorian Silver Plate Teapot Shaw & Fisher with Acorn Finial 19th Century
Victorian Silver Plate Teapot Shaw & Fisher with Acorn Finial 19th Century
An ornate over-the-top English Victorian silver plate teapot by Shaw and Fisher that has every flourish and curve.
The ribbed base of the teapot is enhanced with chaste work, laurel on the spout, and a ribbed C-shaped handle. The teapot is held up by 4 splayed ornate feet. The lid has a pin hinge, with an ornate oak and acorn finial.
An incised mark on the base reads SHAW & FISHER SHEFFIELD with a production number of 1423 and another single number 4.
MEASUREMENTS
9 ¾” (27.8 cm) long x 5 ¼” (13.3 cm) wide x 7” (17.8 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 15.3 oz (890 g)
CONDITION
There is a very small dent near the handle, and light corrosion where the spout meets the body. There are no other dents, repairs or cracks. There is silver loss and wear; however, the teapot still has considerable shine.
An over-the-top teapot to add some shine to a dark corner. I love the detailed acorn finial.
