A very shiny silver plate teapot by Meriden of Connecticut that appears to have been recently re-plated.
The teapot has an etched floral design on each side of the body that are not exactly alike. The teapot has a slight foot. The hinged lid has a spade like finial.
Aa stamped mark on the base reads MERIDEN SILVER PLATE CO. QUADRUPLEPLATE. These words are inside a circle with a lion rampant. There is also a production number 20 ¾ and a number 7.
MEASUREMENTS
7” (17.8 cm) long x 4 ½” (11.4 cm) wide x 9” (22.9 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 4.3 oz (570 g)
CONDITION
The teapot was replated and still has considerable silver. There is a slight dent to the base of the floral etching on one side. Other than light scratches the teapot shows little wear to the exterior. The bottom of the interior shows discoloration and wear.
A very shiny teapot to decorate with or use. It will add a touch of richness to the home.
