Pair of Bookends of Roman Horseman by Littco Iron circa 1928
Pair of Bookends of Roman Horseman by Littco Iron circa 1928
A heavy pair of useful bookends with a Roman motif with a copper finish will keep back those books.
A heavy pair of well-cast iron bookends in the form of a Roman soldier holding a rearing horse. The bookends have a copper patina and have old green felt on the flat base.
There are no visible marks.
MEASUREMENTS
5 5/8” (14.3 cm) tall x 5 ½” (14.0 cm) wide x 2 1/8” (5.4 cm) deep. Weighs 3 lbs 3.2 oz (1450 g)
CONDITION
There is wear to the green felt on the bases. There are small areas of green from the oxidization of the copper in crevices. One bookend has a couple of drips of wax on the base, which I tried to scrape off with my fingernail. They left a dark mark. They do not detract from the bookend. They are not cracked, dented, or broken. They look great for their age.
A great pair of bookends to add a touch of history. They will also hold up books well!
