A thinly potted Japanese ovoid porcelain jar that is delicately decorated with a design of birds flying and swaths of chrysanthemum flowers. The painting is very fine, delicate, and professionally done. The jar has a recessed lid that fits the unglazed mouth and has a button finial for handling.
The canister has an unglazed foot and glazed base. There are no porcelain marks or labels.
MEASUREMENTS
5” (12.7 cm) tall x 4” (10.2 cm) diameter. Weighs 11.9 oz (325 g)
CONDITION
There is a chip on the edge of the lid. There is another small chip on the foot. There are no cracks, or breaks. There are no other chips. There are kiln flaws like tiny bumps, dark spots and recess pin holes. The canister might have originally had another lid that fit over the existing one.
A very delicate pastel tea caddy that can still be used to store your tea (or another dry good).
