A set of three colorful Japanese porcelain Arita plates with hand painted designs of bamboo and birds.

Each plate has a slight depression in the well with a short steep side that has been regularly cut to give a pillowed look. The cavetto is short with a foliate rim. The foot rim on each plate is shallow and narrow. The plates are hand painted with underglaze cobalt and over glaze red and green enamels. Gilding has been added to give a punch of richness to the design.

They have stylized Chinese Ming Chenghua reign marks on the back, along with spur marks from the kiln.
