A lamp base with repousse dragon medallions on all four sides and all shiny white metal paktong look.
A thin silver colored metal amalgam has been stamped and fashioned into an octagonal shaped base for an oil lamp. It has alternating dragon medallions, bamboo and prunus decorations. It has a pierced collar with a central wick that dips into a well. The lamp rests on four stepped feet.
The lamp is very similar to those used for opium, but larger. It might have only been used for light.
The base has the mark MADE IN HONG KONG stamped into it.
MEASUREMENTS
3 ½” (8.9 cm) x 3 ½” (8.9 cm) x 3 3/8” (8.4 cm) tall. Weighs 5.7 oz (165 g)
CONDITION
The lamp has no breaks, dents, cracks, or repairs. The metal has a shine but still has some tarnish. It is missing a glass shade.
