Chinese Polychrome Peony Vase Lamp Republic Period

A tall hand painted Chinese vase with a peony design that was made into a lamp. The height is perfect for a side table.

 

A tall porcelain vase that is glazed and decorated with hand painted design is of peonies, branches and a rock formation using overglaze enamels. The painter has used shading and outlining. The vase has lappets at the mouth with dripping jewels and a key fret border, and a stamped cartouche with Zhuanshu script on the back. The white glaze has a greyish tint.

 

The vase is mounted on a black wood stand. The lamp has a new cord with a new plug. The new antique bronze harp is topped with a vintage bronze finial.

The lamp works and the cord is in very good condition. There are no cracks, chips or breaks on the vase other than being drilled for a lamp. There are kiln flaws, such as black spots, pin holes, and bumps. The over glaze enamels are in good condition.  

 

A great size to be used. It is also a great lamp for many different decors.
